About deck.design

deck.design is a free interactive planning tool for garden decking, built for UK homeowners and landscapers. You draw your deck's exact shape on a live canvas, choose real decking, joist, and edging products, and get a fully itemised bill of materials — boards, subframe timber, posts, and fixings — priced live and recalculated as you edit.

Under the hood, an optimisation solver plans the actual board layout and cutting list for your design: which stock lengths to buy, where seams fall, and how the supporting joists, bearers, and posts go together, checked against published joist and bearer span guidance. The aim is a materials list you could genuinely hand to a builder or take to a merchant.
